National Review Board seeks proposals for next study of clergy sexual abuse crisis
I'm not too happy with the National Review Board. I think they've overlooked the most frequent instance of clergy sexual abuse--sexual misconduct with adult females. I also think it's overlooked because it calls celibacy into question. I believe that celibacy is treated in much of the world as an "ideal" not necessarily actually observed in practice. In the United States, we treat it as the "norm" expecting our priests to actually observe it for the most part. There appears to be no study of overall observance of celibacy rates and one should be undertaken and published.
